Today our hosts took us to Phanom Rung Historical Park - a Temple area about 65 km North of Buriram. Phanom Rung - or Prasat Hin Phanom Rung - is a Khmer temple with a wide variety of Buildings and Temples made of sandstone and laterite on the lower parts of the complex and the main temple located on the rim of an extinct Vulcano some 400 metres above sealevel. Built during a long period of time spanning from the 10th to the 13th Century; this Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva with symbols from his heavenly dwelling has some really nice sculptures and architectural views! Not surprisingly, the Temple was submitted to UNESCO for consideration as a future World Heritage Site!
Amazing place with so much history! The whole temple area had a kind of solemn grace that was beautiful to experience. A wonderful day!
